Commemorating the HBN of the TP FIP UNP Study Program to hold a national dialogue
Padang (ANTARA) – In commemoration of the National Bari Defending the State (HBN) which falls on December 19, 2019, the Department of Educational Curriculum and Technology, Faculty of Education, State University of Padang held an interactive dialogue in collaboration with Radio Republik Indonesia (RRI) Padang. The agenda with the theme “The Urgency of Defending the State in Diversity Towards Advanced Indonesia Through Creative, Innovative and Character Education” presented speakers from Padang Mayor Mahyeldi Ansyarullah, Dean of FIP UNP Prof. Dr. Rusdinal, M.Pd and UNP Education Expert Prof. Dr. Alwen Bentri, M.Pd, in Padang, Monday. The commemoration of the National Defense Day is an educational program to increase the spirit of nationalism.
The momentum for the commemoration of state defense carried out by the campus to internalize the values of nationalism in campus life, said the Dean of FIP UNP, Prof. Dr. Rusdinal, M.Pd. According to him, it is important to internalize these national values so that the values can be owned by the younger generation, especially students. He added that in general, defending the country on a concrete level had been carried out by commemorating national holidays, such as independence and education. Meanwhile, UNP education expert Prof. Dr. Alwen Bentri, M.Pd said that defending the country can be done by the younger generation, or millennials, in a contemporary way. The younger generation can make learning videos with national nuances and upload them on YouTube, and of course, if watched by other younger generations, they will be excited too, said the Professor from the Department of Curriculum and Educational Technology. The younger generation can excel and defend the country according to their respective fields, such as sports, arts, and others, he added.
Meanwhile, the Mayor of Padang, Mahyeldi said that the younger generation needs to understand the history of the nation so that they can love their homeland and find their identity as Indonesians. He hopes that education can accommodate this by providing learning content in the form of learning videos about history taught in schools so that students can understand history and culture well. Furthermore, Mahyeldi asked FIP to provide these learning videos that can be used in schools. Responding to this, the Dean of FIP, said the TP Study Program, one of the student’s competencies is to make the learning video. He hoped that there would be further cooperation from the Padang City Government to follow up on this matter. Later, learning videos can be developed that can be used by the younger generation to increase their knowledge about nationality and defending the country, said the Dean of FIP. The Mayor of Padang welcomed the interactive dialogue regarding the day of defending the country and hopes that in the future the campus can reactivate the program by collaborating with several parties.
